The safety of shipping, and the well being of seafarers, have been the prime concerns ever since Trinity House was granted a Royal Charter 5 centuries ago by Henry VIII in 1514.
Today trinity House operates lighthouses, lightvessels and deep sea pilotage in the waters around the UK.
The Sunk Centre Lightvessel, located just outside Harwich, is an important part of the Sunk Traffic Separation Scheme.
In addition, the Operations and Planning Centre (OPC) in Harwich can monitor / control the lights, fog signals, racons, AIS (when operational), engine (where applicable), position monitoring, collision / bilge indications and battery voltages.
All Lightvessels report into OPC every 12 hours or whenever there is a change of state at the station. OPC can also request an update from the station.

I am a visual story teller based in southern Pennsylvania, USA and my imagery is inspired from everyday objects and situations I encounter through my travels. My work has been exhibited and sold at the Bradford Avenue Galleries (Allinson Gallery and Huston Gallery) at Chester County Art Association, in addition to this online store. My images have also been exhibited at Panorama XXL, Rouen, France and the Cincinnati Museum Center, Cincinnati, USA. I hope you will find something that inspires you, amuses you, makes you think, smile, frown, or perhaps just scratch your head. Go on, dive in... and for those of you who do so, I offer a big thank you for looking through my window on the world! ~Richard ReevePhotos Inspiring...
