Eddie Plays Guitar - Richard Reeve
Eddie "Howlin' Jack" Russell is fairly unknown to the mainstream rock circuit, although he has built up a significant number of followers over his long career. Influential behind the scenes, he started out playing bass in an early line up of K9 but soon realized he'd prefer the front line to back. The opportunity came when lead singer Bonzo injured his vocal cords so Eddie was able to step up and show the audience what he could do. The rest, as they say, is history. Recognized for his unique vocal style, he was given his famous moniker by music journalist Elliot Katz during a gig write up, and it stuck immediately.
This photo was taken during a late night jamming session in his basement studio in the early to mid 70s by photographer Jorgy Riv.
