Description
Tree Snail drinking from False Bird of Paradise Plant - Richard Reeve
This large spiral guy (or gal, as these snails are hermaphrodite) is having a quick drink form the beautiful false-bird-of-paradise plant in the rain forest in Puerto Rico. These mollusks are quite large (3-4 inches in diameter) and reach maturity at between 3-6 years old. The plants in Puerto Rico have many of these tree snails climbing on them so it does not appear that are heavily predated.

Thank you, Meg. These snails are quite spectacular and there were hundreds of then in the Puerto Rico rain forest climbing all over the plants.
