Description
This beautiful crocus flower is straining to be seen through the old oak leaf litter.
These perennial flowers grow as corms, the first of which were brought to Europe (Netherlands), where crocus species are not native, in the 1560s from Constantinople by the Holy Roman Emperor's ambassador to the Sublime Porte, Ogier Ghiselin de Busbecq.
