Philadelphia zoo has a fascinating colony of naked mole rats (aka desert mole rats or sand puppies) which are one of only 2 species of eusocial mammals, living in a colony of 70-200 like bees and ants, with a queen. they are very long-lived (up to 31 years) live in low oxygen environment, have few pain receptors and have a very high resistance to cancer (never recorded in fact), making them the journal SCIENCE's "vertebrate of the year" in 2013!
