Description
Nassau - Coral World Redux
Built in 1987, Coral World was a successful water park connected to Coral Island by a walkway that featured a glass bottomed restaurant, lighthouse tower. It was a huge attraction in Nassau but was severely damaged by Hurricane Floyd in 1999. This, combined with the rise of competition by the gargantuan Atlantis complex nearby on Paradise Island, caused it to be abandoned by its owners. It remains, in a derelict state for passersby to wonder at, looking more like an abandoned super criminal's lair from a Bond movie, which gave me an idea for a short tale at https://searching4theshot.wordpress.com/2016/01/11/a-story-the-visit/

Voted for your image in abandoned business. Thank you for sharing! I went to the ocean floor in this very structure when it was opened around late 80s. My hubby and I snorkeled around the outside on our visit many years later. I loved their hands on pool where you could pick up sea creatures. Was so sad to see it close.

It's got a sci-fi feel... Minus the rust. Cool structure and great shot! L/F!

Thank you, Meg.It took me a while to research the place too. Thankfully, a taxi driver gave me the Coral Word key words to look for.
