Lagom - Metron Ariston by Richard Reeve
Lagom is the art of balanced living practiced by many in Sweden and all over the world. It is the state of living within your means, saying enough is enough and taking pleasure in small things. It is consensus, contentment and happiness.
I have chosen to represent this simple approach to living by using the symbol for Libra - the balance (or scales) and a single color... just enough.
For what is likely to be the final image in my Lagom series, I have added the quote attributed to the Greek philosopher, Cleobulus, "metron ariston" (everything in moderation).. which sums up the lagom-lifestyle to me..
I am a visual story teller based in southern Pennsylvania, USA and my imagery is inspired from everyday objects and situations I encounter through my travels. My work has been exhibited and sold at the Bradford Avenue Galleries (Allinson Gallery and Huston Gallery) at Chester County Art Association, in addition to this online store. My images have also been exhibited at Panorama XXL, Rouen, France and the Cincinnati Museum Center, Cincinnati, USA.
